Hi! I’m Dan Atwood and besides being an avid Zone 8 gardener who has grown tons of food & vegetable varieties, I’m a proud “Papa” to my grandchildren, aspiring pickleball player, seasoned pastor, and a wannabe world traveler.

If you’re looking for fancy words and expensive gardening hacks then this site probably isn’t for you. But if you’re looking for proven, inexpensive, get it done solutions along with some of my epic fails to keep it real then you’re my kind of people.

My small but mighty garden began as a curiosity with my grandmother’s bountiful garden complete with egg shells & banana peels strewn across the surface. The next chapter was being forced to weed my dad’s garden for hours in the blazing heat. O.k., maybe I’m being a little dramatic. Not to be out done I also sent my children out to weed my sad first gardens. But the goal is to work smarter not harder. Can I get an Amen? So today I have very few weeds to deal with, watering is automated, I have higher than average raised beds, my soil is rich home made compost and the results are rewarding.
